Apply For 2024 AAUW International Fellowships for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students

The American Association of University Women (AAUW), a prominent advocate for equity and education for women and girls, has been offering AAUW International Fellowships since 1917. These fellowships provide opportunities for women from countries outside the United States to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and postdoctoral studies at accredited institutions in the United States.

These fellowships aim to promote gender equality and empower women by supporting their academic pursuits and facilitating their return to their home countries to become leaders in various fields, including business, government, academia, community activism, the arts, and the sciences.

Recipients of AAUW International Fellowships for Graduate and Postgraduate Students will receive the following funds:

These funds are designed to cover educational expenses, living costs, dependent child care, and travel to professional meetings, conferences, or seminars, provided the travel expenses do not exceed 10% of the total fellowship amount.

Eligible Countries: International Students

Eligibility:

To be eligible for these fellowships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a citizen of a country other than the United States or possess a non-immigrant visa if residing in the United States. Women who are U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or dual citizens of the U.S. and another country are not eligible.
  2. Hold an academic degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree by November 15, 2022.
  3. Intend to devote themselves full-time to their proposed academic plan during the fellowship year.
  4. Plan to return to their home country to pursue a professional career upon completing their studies.
  5. Be proficient in English, as demonstrated through specific English proficiency exams, transcripts from English-speaking institutions, or a written statement verifying English is the applicant’s native language.
  6. Master’s/first professional degree and doctoral applicants must have applied to an accredited institution for the period of the fellowship year by November 15, 2023.
  7. Postdoctoral applicants must provide proof of their doctorate degree, hold a doctorate classified as a research degree by November 15, 2023, and indicate where they will conduct their research.
  8. Master’s/first professional degree and doctoral applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited institution located in the U.S. during the fellowship year.
  9. Applicants must be conducting a full year of study or research, as the fellowships do not fund partial years of study.
